Over a dozen drones targeted the Russian capital overnight, according to Mayor Sergey Sobyanin, who posted rolling updates from 17:41 to 01:39 local time.
Russian air defenses claimed to have shot down multiple UAVs approaching the city. Moreover, the Defense Ministry later said 22 drones were intercepted between 16:00–20:00 across Belgorod, Kaluga, and the Moscow region.
Operations at Moscow’s Domodedovo and Zhukovsky airports were temporarily suspended.
With additional restrictions reported overnight at Saratov, aviation officials said.
Explosions were noted in several districts, including Kommunarka, and emergency crews were dispatched to debris sites. No casualties had been reported till now.
In nearby Serpukhov (Moscow Oblast), a fire broke out at an oil depot on the evening of Oct. 26; local authorities said the blaze was extinguished without specifying a cause.
Whereas, Ukrainian officials had not commented on the reported strikes on the Russian Capital.
Experts say, overnight barrage of drone attacks may be part of a month’s long pattern in which Ukraine uses long range drones to hit military and industrial sites in Russia.
On the other hand, Kyiv authorities say recent mass strikes on the capital killed five and injured dozens, while President Volodymyr Zelensky reported nearly 1,200 strike drones and 50 missiles launched at Ukraine in the past week.
