Motorway Police issue safety guidelines for drivers amid dense fog

Dense fog has severely reduced visibility in several parts of Pakistan, leading to the suspension of traffic on major motorways across the country.

According to the Motorway Police, the M-1 motorway has been closed from Peshawar to Ghazi Hattian Interchange, M-2 from Thokar Niaz Baig to Balkassar Interchange, M-3 from Faizpur to Darkhana, M-4 from Pindi Bhattian to Sher Shah, M-5 from Rohri to Multan, and M-14 from Khurrappa to Isa Khel due to fog.

A spokesperson for the Central Region Motorway Police said that the purpose of the motorway closures is to protect citizens from possible accidents, as lane violations and speeding during fog can cause dangerous accidents.

According to the spokesperson, Motorway M-3 has been closed from Jaranwala to Darkhana, Motorway M-4 from Pindi Bhattian to Abdul Hakeem and from Gojra to Abdul Hakeem, while Motorway M-5 has been closed from Multan to Zahir Pir and from Multan to Sukkur.

Motorway police have advised citizens to avoid unnecessary travel and to prefer travelling during daylight hours. The spokesperson of Motorway Police urged citizens to travel in fog is considered relatively safe between 10am and 6pm.

Drivers have been Instructed to use fog lights, strictly follow lane discipline, avoid speeding, and maintain a safe distance from the vehicle ahead.
