Heavy fog across Pakistan severely damaged the daily commute as major motorways remain closed in major parts of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The National Highways and Motorway Police (NHMP) has issued a travel advisory for daily commuters to avoid any unfortunate incident.
The authority shared latest update on ground on their social media handles.
- M-2 From Thokaz Niaz Baig to Chakri
- M-3 From Faizpur to Rajana
- M-4 From Pindi Bhattian to Shorkot
- M-11 From Lahore to Sambrial
- M-14 From Kharpa to Isa Khel
Dense fog brought life to a near standstill, disrupting traffic across the city and forcing the closure of several major motorways.
The poor visibility affected not only travellers heading into Lahore from other cities but also residents who were out late on Thursday night, many of whom struggled to make their way home safely.
The fog began to thicken on Thursday and remained intense into the early hours of Friday. By around 1:00 am, visibility in several parts of the city had dropped to almost zero, making driving extremely risky.
Will Pakistan receive severe cold wave in this season?
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) earlier said that the reports circulating on social media about severe or record-breaking cold wave expected across the country from January 16 to 25 were false and misleading.
According to the PMD, analysis based on modern weather models and ground observations shows no indication of any unusual or historic cold spell during this period, with temperatures likely to remain within normal winter ranges.
