Heavy fog forces temporary closure of THESE major motorways  

Web desk: The Central Region Motorway Police have announced that severe fog in different parts of the country has greatly reduced visibility.

According to a traffic police spokesperson, the closures are primarily aimed at safeguarding drivers and passengers.

Motorway closure

Motorways M2, M3, M4, and M5 are currently closed to traffic due to dense fog.

Specifically, M2 from Lahore to Kot Momin, M3 from Faizpur to Darkhana, M4 from Pindi Bhattian to Multan, and M5 from Multan to Zahid Pir are not open.

In addition, M11 from Lahore to Sialkot is also closed because of poor visibility.

The motorway police emphasised that these temporary closures are necessary to avoid possible accidents and ensure public safety.

Drivers are advised to reduce their speed and avoid changing lanes during fog, as such actions can lead to dangerous accidents.

Traffic authorities have urged the public to follow safety instructions and avoid travelling on motorways without a necessary reason.

These major motorways have been temporarily closed to protect the public and prevent accidents.

The motorways will be reopened once visibility improves, and the public will be informed in advance.

Weather update

In Punjab and Islamabad, rain, wind, and thunderstorms with snowfall are expected in Murree and the Galliyat region from the evening of December 30 to the morning of January 2.

Isolated rain is also forecast in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Potohar region, Sargodha, and Faisalabad. And Mandi Bahauddin, Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore, Sheikhupura, and Gujrat from December 31 to January 1.

Mianwali, Bhakkar, Khushab, Noorpur Thal, Layyah, Dera Ghazi Khan, Multan, Bahawalpur, Rahim Yar Khan, Bahawalnagar, Muzaffargarh, Jhang, and Sahiwal will receive rain on December 31.
