The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has confirmed six serious bids for the auction of the Pakistan Super League’s popular franchise Multan Sultans. The auction for Multan Sultans is now gaining momentum.
The official advertisement for the sale of Multan-based franchise was issued by PCB on January 14. The advertisement invited interested parties to submit applications.
After the advertisement six strong bidders came forward which signalled strong commercial and investor interest in one of the most popular league’s franchises.
As of now the bidder applications are undergoing a detailed technical review. The bidders who meet the required technical criteria will only be allowed to move forward to the next stage of the auction process. The final date for the auction will be announced by the Pakistan Cricket Board soon, heightening the anticipation among fans and stakeholders.
Earlier, the chairman of the PCB (Mohsin Naqvi) stated that the board would take over Multan Sultans in interim control to ensure stability in the operations before the fresh season.
However, the confirmation of six formal bids has shown that the process of auction will be completed ahead of PSL 11 and has shown investor interest and confidence in the tournament’s growth.
With the player draft scheduled for February 11, the coming weeks promise to be filled with quick moves in league preps and franchise concerns; this will result in heightened anticipation on the part of supporters and stakeholders alike.
The two new teams added in this season of PSL were Hyderabad and Sialkot. The Sialkot team has announced their official team name. They will be called Sialkot Stallionz.
The fans of Pakistan Super League and Multan Sultans will follow the auction process with high anticipation and motivation.
It also might be possible that Multan Sultans name is changed in PSL 11.
