Multiple cars collide at Motorway M2

Multiple cars collision has been reported at Motorway M2, Islamabad-Lahore section, on Monday morning due to incessant rain. Several people have been reported to be injured.

As per initial reports, multiple cars collided on the motorway M2, near Capital Smart City Islamabad, due to slippery road conditions caused by heavy rain. Rescue officials, Motorway police and other officials have reached the site of the incident and have started rescue work

According to Rescue officials, so far one person has died, who has been identified as Shams ur Rehman, son of Mohammad Suleman, a resident of Attock and atleast 33 people have been injured. The injured have been shifted to nearby hospitals for urgent medical care. 27 of the injured have been taken to PIMS hospital while three were shifted to Shifa International Hospital.

According to Motorway police the accident occurred due to heavy rain.

The police has advised the public to avoid unnecessary travel in rainy conditions and keep an adequate distance between cars to avoid collisions due to sudden breaks.
