Mumbai monsoon turns deadly as poor management claims lives

Mumbai monsoon

The Mumbai monsoon has turned deadly, with severe urban flooding entering homes and disrupting daily life across the city.

The India Meteorological Department has forecast more heavy rainfall through the weekend.

So far, three deaths have been reported in the city, while millions are suffering because of the flooding and extreme traffic congestion.

Severe waterlogging has also been reported in Modi’s home state, Gujarat.

People have shared distressing pictures of the monsoon on social media, complaining about the authorities’ handling of the situation.

Here are some posts:

Earlier, floodwater entered Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan’s iconic bungalow, Jalsa, during heavy monsoon rains.

Videos circulating widely on social media showed floodwater surrounding the actor’s residence in the upscale Juhu area, with rainwater reportedly entering parts of the property. The viral footage has reignited criticism of India’s poor drainage infrastructure and flood control measures, even in some of the country’s most affluent neighbourhoods.

The flooding around the actor’s home was reportedly worsened by clogged drainage systems.
