A landslide struck Murree’s Dariyagali Road and destroyed two buildings, officials confirmed on Sunday, triggering a swift response from local authorities.
Rescue teams, along with district administration officials, rushed to the site immediately after receiving reports of the incident and launched relief and assessment operations in the affected area. Heavy machinery was also brought in to clear debris and ensure the area was secured.
Authorities said they had already evacuated the buildings before the landslide occurred, moving residents to safer locations in time. This timely action helped prevent any casualties, despite the scale of destruction caused by the incident.
Officials further confirmed that the landslide damaged a section of Dariyagali Road, forcing authorities to completely suspend traffic along that route. Commuters have been advised to use alternative roads while clearance work continues.
As a precaution, authorities have also evacuated nearby structures to avoid any further risk, as the area remains vulnerable to additional landslides. Law enforcement personnel have sealed off the site and restricted entry for unrelated individuals to ensure public safety and allow rescue teams to carry out their work without interference.
Officials added that they are closely monitoring the situation and will continue operations until the area is declared safe. Residents have been urged to stay alert and follow official advisories, especially as changing weather conditions can increase the risk of further landslides in hilly regions like Murree.
