Two Pakistan Army Air pilots were martyred due to a technical fault on Monday, October 12 when one of the training aircraft crashed in Nawan Killi, in Quetta, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said.

The military’s media wing announced on Monday that a Mushshak training aircraft had crashed around midday in the Nawan Killi area in Quetta.

Major Husnain Shehzad Humayun, an instructor pilot, and Captain Abdul Samad, a student pilot, were martyred in the incident.

The ISPR said the plane crashed on the grounds of a technical fault during its flight. In the unfortunate incident, both officers lost their lives.

The initial report suggests that the aircraft was lifted off the ground from Quetta Cantonment Air Base and faced some technical issues. The report says the crash took place near Nawan Killi, due to a malfunction.

After the accident, the police and security arrived on the scene and surrounded the area as they started investigating the incident. Further details about the circumstances leading to the crash were not immediately available.

Both pilots’ identities were confirmed, while the ISPR paid tribute to their sacrifice. The accident has again highlighted the dangers of military aircraft training, where pilots are being prepared for service in the face of challenging weather and terrain.

Mushshak is a basic trainer aircraft of the Pakistan Air Force for its pilot training. Such planes are vital for the training of young pilots by professional pilots.

If more information is made available by the authorities about the crash and how the technical fault occurred, it may be released.
