Web desk: Earthquake tremors have been felt in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK)’s capital, Muzaffarabad.
Moderate tremors were felt in the Azad Kashmir capital, Muzaffarabad and its surrounding areas late at night. The tremors sent residents rushing out of their homes in fear.
According to seismic reports, the earthquake measured 4.3 in magnitude. The tremors lasted only a few seconds but caused widespread anxiety and panic among the public.
According to eyewitnesses, the quake hit at a very late time at night, leaving people feeling the buildings shaking, especially in their homes, shops and even the multi-storey buildings.
Several residents instantly left their homes, chanting Kalma Tayyaba and proceeded to open areas. There has not been any significant destruction or loss of life.
As a result of the geographical closeness of the region to the Himalayan fault line, Azad Kashmir and northern Pakistan often undergo seismic activity.
Residents have been advised to be on the alert by experts. The citizens are encouraged not to be in the vicinity of the vulnerable buildings and to go and find some safe shelter in case of strong aftershocks.
