The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has issued an urgent advisory warning citizens about fraudulent websites impersonating its official online services.

According to officials, the National Cyber Emergency Response Team (National CERT), in coordination with NADRA, identified and shut down nine malicious domains between February and March that were designed to mimic official NADRA platforms.

NCERT said these fake websites attempted to mislead users and could potentially steal sensitive personal data from unsuspecting citizens.

Fake domains identified

The domains taken down by authorities include:

  • visa-nadra-gov-pk.shafaftech.com
  • visa.nadra.gov-pak.com
  • visa.nadra.gov.pk-com.io
  • visa.nadra.gov.pk.gofly.com.gofly.com.pk
  • visa.nadra.gov.pk.e-visa.pk
  • nadraverisys.com
  • nadraservices.uk

Advisory for citizens

NADRA urged citizens to remain vigilant while accessing online services and to ensure they only use the authority’s official website.

Officials advised the public to always verify the website domain before entering personal information and to access NADRA services only through the verified government portal.

Citizens were also warned to avoid clicking suspicious links received through email, SMS or social media messages.

National CERT and NADRA will continue monitoring cyber threats and taking action against malicious activities to protect citizens and strengthen Pakistan’s digital security ecosystem.

NADRA warns institutions against not accepting digital ID cards

The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) earlier warned institutions that are not accepting digital ID cards as legal identity.

Moreover, in a post on X, NADRA said, “Some offices and service providers are still asking citizens to present a physical card or photocopy.

Digital ID equal to physical CNIC

NADRA has very clearly stated that the digital ID card is equivalent to the physical card, and clearly said to accept the digital ID available through NADRA services.

The refusal of institutions to accept the digital cards is inconsistent with the legal framework governing digital identity issued by NADRA.
