The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has introduced Nishan-e-Pakistan, a new online verification system, which aims at modernising the verification process.
This new facility introduced by NADRA will allow both regulated private sector organisations and government institutions to access secure and authenticated verification services through a single digital portal.
The procedures for registration, access and subscription will now be completed online. It removes the need for repeated approvals and lengthy paperwork.
The NADRA officials state that this initiative will be particularly beneficial to telecom companies, financial institutions and banks. These institutions have for a long time relied on time-consuming manual practices to verify customer identities.
The initiative is a part of the government’s Digital Economy Enhancement Project. The project aims at strengthening national digital infrastructure and accelerating delivery across sectors.
According to NADRA the new system will not only improve security and transparency and will make the online process fully digital.
Implementing the “Nishan-e-Pakistan” onboarding process will gear up and ensure compliance with legal requirements, and ensure data protection.
Nishan-e-Pakistan’s introduction will be boosting public confidence in public services and support the growth of Pakistan’s digital economy.
Under the NADRA ordinance and related regulations, identity verification will now be delivered using modern technology. This will make identity verification faster, more reliable and more effective.
Before the system became online, citizens were required to make repeated visits to NADRA office. They had to wait in long lines for hours and they may or may not be able to obtain identity documents.
Many times they returned empty handed to due errors in processing and due to a single document missing.
The online verification system has made it very easy for people. They can complete the verification processes from the comfort of their homes.
This will be extremely beneficial to old people and those who are not able to visit NADRA offices due to some reason.
