NADRA Records: How many Pakistanis are registered?

The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has presented its annual report to the Ministry of Interior, disclosing the total number of Pakistanis registered with the authority.

The Nadra spokesperson, Shabahat Ali, said in a video statement that a total of 227 million citizens are registered in Nadra.


The spokesperson of Nadra also confirmed that it’s 97% population of the country.
Shabahat Ali also said that 31.9 million births were registered in Union Councils (UCs). He also shared the gender breakdown as 48% are women and 52% are men in the country.
He also remarked that the authority has a facial recognition database of 170 million individuals, along with 1.68 billion fingerprints and seven million retinal scans.  

The Nadra spokesperson also said that there is 11% total increase in Nadra registration, adding that 18% spike in childbirth registrations. Shabahat Ali noted that there is 8% increase in women registrations.

The spokesperson also confirmed that 938 Nadra registration centres are currently operational. However, the federal government established 75 new Nadra registration centres in 2025.

He further said that around 12 million people downloaded the Pak id mobile application as the mobile app has almost doing 15% of Nadra’s work.
