Web desk: The season’s first snowfall hit Naran–Kaghan, leaving hundreds of people stranded in the valley.
Several vehicles have been stranded and can no longer travel towards Naran tonight due to the heavy snowfall. People are stuck at various points across the valley, and they will likely reach safe locations by tomorrow.
For now, many might have to spend the night on the road. Police and local residents are actively assisting those stranded and working to ensure everyone’s safety.
Naran-Kaghan Snowfall
The Kaghan Valley has turned white as snowfall continues in higher areas, including Batta Kundi, Besar Lake, Lulusar Lake, and Lake Saif-ul-Malook, drawing many tourists eager to enjoy the early winter.
Meanwhile, the Hazara region, especially Abbottabad and Mansehra, has seen heavy rain, hail, and thunderstorms since noon, causing temperatures to drop sharply.
The cold weather marks the start of winter in northern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, with temperatures falling well below normal for this time of year.
Under the instructions of Kaghan Development Authority (KDA) Director General Shabbir Khan, KDA teams are present at key tourist spots to guide visitors and ensure their safety.
Teams are also patrolling different parts of the valley to maintain smooth access during the bad weather.
Local reports say the mix of rain in lower valleys and snow in higher areas has made the region even more beautiful and signals the start of the peak winter tourism season in Kaghan and Naran.
Authorities, however, have advised travellers to be careful due to slippery roads and poor visibility.
Tourists visiting Kaghan Valley during the snowfall are advised to take safety precautions to avoid accidents or getting stuck.
Travellers should carry warm clothing, blankets, and sufficient food and water in case of delays. Tourists should remain alert about changing weather conditions. They are advised to seek shelter immediately if roads become unsafe.
