The government of Pakistan has introduced its first-ever ‘National Agriculture Biotechnology Policy’.

The Federal Government, on April 28, in a meeting, approved the first National Agriculture Biotechnology Policy and the National Seed Policy.

These policies were approved at a meeting of the Federal Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister (PM) of Pakistan, Shehbaz Sharif, with the aim of significantly increasing agricultural production, ensuring food security and meeting modern requirements.

The meeting also approved the National Skills Development Policy under which special measures will be taken to provide international standard training and certification to Pakistanis going abroad.

This shows the government’s great progress in the economy and the agricultural sector of the country.

This policy will prepare a skilled manpower tailored to the needs of domestic industry and trade while ensuring its implementation through collaborative federal and provincial cooperation and involving the private sector.

The Federal Cabinet also approved a policy of local manufacturing of vaccines aimed at saving precious resources by reducing dependence on imports and making the country medically self-sufficient.

Under the National Agriculture Biotechnology Policy, agricultural research and development will be boosted.

The National Seed Policy 2025 is expected to increase yields by 15 to 20 per cent using advanced seeds.

The meeting also presented reports related to energy and the industrial sector while praising the transfer of the father of a late political leader.

PM Shehbaz said that he will continue his efforts to maintain peace in the region.

He also mentioned the role of Pakistan in de-escalating the tension between the US and Iran.

While talking about the Islamabad Talks, Shehbaz Sharif said, “The marathon talks between Iran and the US held in Islamabad on April 11 lasted for 21 hours and marked a significant diplomatic breakthrough.”

He added, “Pakistan made sincere and coordinated efforts for the success of the negotiations, with contributions from Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Deputy Prime Minister (DPM) and Foreign Minister (FM) of Pakistan, Ishaq Dar, and other senior officials.”
