The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has requested 300 officers and personnel from the Punjab Police on deputation to address its staff shortage.
According to an official letter issued with the approval of the NCCIA director general, the agency has approached the Punjab inspector general of police to provide officers and personnel for temporary appointments.
The NCCIA has sought the services of 30 deputy superintendents of police (DSPs), 30 inspectors, 115 sub-inspectors, 25 assistant sub-inspectors (ASIs), and 100 head constables and constables.
A list containing the names of 107 officers and personnel has already been forwarded to the NCCIA. The agency has also requested that the remaining 193 personnel be sent on deputation at the earliest to meet its staffing requirements.
According to the letter, both male and female police officers and personnel will be eligible for deputation. Applicants must be under 48 years of age and physically fit to qualify for the appointments.
The minimum educational qualification has been set at a bachelor’s degree or an Intermediate in Computer Science (ICS). Candidates must also have an honest service record and an ‘A’ grade performance record.
However, personnel who have received serious disciplinary penalties or are facing ongoing inquiries will not be eligible for deputation, the letter stated.
The NCCIA director general has formally written to the Punjab inspector general of police, requesting the deployment of the required officers and personnel.
The move comes as the agency seeks to strengthen its workforce by drawing on the Punjab Police’s existing personnel. The requested deployment is expected to help address staffing gaps and provide additional manpower for the agency’s operations.
The letter outlines the eligibility criteria and the number of personnel required from each rank, while the Punjab Police has been asked to facilitate the deputation process.
