Seasons First Snowfall Hits Neelum Valley

Web desk: The first rain and snowfall of the winter season have sharply increased the cold in Azad Kashmir’s scenic Neelum Valley. Many areas remain cut off following the August cloudburst in Nala Jagran.

The intensity of cold has increased significantly after the first rain and snowfall of the winter season in the beautiful Neelum Valley of Azad Kashmir.

According to the Meteorological Department, more rain and snowfall are expected in the upper areas of the valley during the next week.

On the other hand, the restoration work of the areas affected by the cloudburst in Nala Jagran on August 14 has not yet been completed.

The connecting bridges and roads connecting more than 25,000 people, including the tourist spot Kundal Shahi Waterfall and Kattan Jagran, have not yet been restored, due to which the local people are facing severe difficulties.

Residents of the affected villages have demanded that the Azad Kashmir government and the district administration take immediate steps to restore the connecting bridges and roads in the affected areas.

Naran Kaghan Weather

Previously, the season’s first snowfall had hit the Naran Kaghan valley, leaving hundreds of people stranded across the region.

Several vehicles were unable to move towards Naran that night due to the heavy snow. It has also resulted in travellers being stuck at various points in the valley.

Authorities expected that most people who were stuck would be able to reach safe locations by the next morning, and would have to spend the night stranded on the road..

At the time, many travellers were forced to spend the night on the road. Police and local residents were assisting those stranded. They were working tirelessly to ensure the safety of the tourists and the people.

The upper Kaghan Valley, Kashmir and the Northern parts of the country have entered their winter phase, with most seeing freezing temperature conditions.
