Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated on Saturday that the war with Iran “is not over yet,” while reaffirming earlier statements regarding the “historic achievements” of Israel throughout the region.
In a video statement, Netanyahu, claimed that he had received intelligence suggesting that Iran was “very close” to developing nuclear weapons, saying that it would already have nuclear arms if the United States and Israel had not initiated their joint attacks on 28 February.
Amid peace negotiations with Lebanon, Netanyahu indicated in the same communication that the campaign against Iran persists, adding that “we are still fighting them.”
He further noted that there remains much work to be accomplished.
Netanyahu said that Israel had “eliminated eight nuclear scientists” allegedly associated with Iran’s weaponisation efforts, dismantled the heavy-water reactor at Arak, and targeted centrifuge production and uranium enrichment facilities throughout the nation.
He echoed US President Donald Trump’s statements that the Iranian regime was at its “weakest point” since its inception, and referenced the assassinations of high-ranking Iranian figures, including Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei on the first day of the Israel Iran war, as proof of strategic success.
Standing in front of a map of the Middle East marked with red indicators representing “Iran and its proxies,” Netanyahu likened them to the “arms of an octopus” that pose an existential threat to Israel.
Israel agrees upon negotiations with Lebanon
Earlier, Israel agreed on negotiations with Lebanon as soon as possible, according to a post shared by Prime Minister (PM) Benjamin Netanyahu’s social media platform X account.
The negotiations were agreed upon because of what the post described as ‘Lebanon’s repeated requests’ to open direct negotiations with Israel.
The development came after President of the United States (US), Donald Trump reportedly asked Benjamin Netanyahu, to scale back Israel’s strikes on Lebanon to support the negotiations with Iran amid US Iran talks held in Pakistan’s federal capital, Islamabad.
