Electric Vehicle EV sales

Web Desk: Chinese automaker BYD has set a new world record for Electric Vehicle EV sales in 2025.

According to the company, BYD sold 2.26 million electric vehicles last year, the highest ever by any company worldwide.

These figures put BYD in a position to surpass American company Tesla in annual sales for the first time.

Tesla had announced sales of 1.22 million electric vehicles by the end of September 2025, but the company’s full annual report is expected on Friday.

According to a foreign news agency, BYD provided this data in a statement to the Hong Kong Stock Exchange.

According to the news agency, BYD and other Chinese companies are facing heavy tariffs in the United States, but its sales are increasing in Southeast Asia, the Middle East and Europe.

It should be noted that in 2024, Tesla surpassed BYD by a slight margin, selling 1.79 million electric vehicles in a year, while BYD sold 1.76 million electric vehicles.
