PESHAWAR: Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) has announced a new gas supply schedule for domestic consumers.
The revised schedule was announced after the restoration of supply following the recent explosion in the main transmission line.
SNGPL has announced a three-times-a-day gas supply schedule due to the minimum capacity of the other line used for supply.
Deputy Commissioner Sanaullah stated that the 24-inch pipeline, which was used for delivering gas to Peshawar, Mardan, and Swat, was damaged in the blast.
After the incident, Sui Northern began supplying gas through a 16-inch alternate pipeline and due to the smaller capacity of the replaced line, there will be a reduction in gas availability.
New schedule
Domestic consumers in Peshawar will get gas during three specific time slots:
- 5:00 am to 9:00 am
- 11:00 am to 2:00 pm
- 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm.
However, CNG stations will remain temporarily closed due to the disruption.
It is pertinent to mention here that a powerful explosion ripped through a major gas pipeline in the Hasankhel area of Peshawar yesterday, causing a blaze in the 24-inch main supply line along the Karak–Nowshera route.
The blast forced authorities to suspend gas delivery to multiple districts in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as a precaution for public safety.
In conversation with a private news outlet, Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) General Manager Waqas Shinwari said that emergency repair teams had been dispatched immediately to isolate the damaged section and initiate a safety inspection.
He said gas supply to Peshawar, Charsadda, Nowshera, Mardan and Swat was likely to be affected. However, he stated that alternative arrangements were being made to maintain supply in the affected districts.
