The government of Pakistan is planning a new holiday schedule for schools all across the country.
A disagreement over the school holiday calendar continues as the government has proposed a new plan for summer and winter vacations.
Officials say discussions are still ongoing, and no final decision has been reached.
The proposed schedule includes 76 days of summer holidays and 17 days of winter vacations for educational institutions.
Proposal under discussion
According to official sources, the government has presented the plan in an effort to organise the academic calendar while considering seasonal conditions.
However, stakeholders involved in the discussions have not yet reached a consensus on the number and timing of the holidays.
The issue remains under review as authorities continue consultations with relevant groups.
Despite the government’s proposal, the deadlock over the holiday schedule has not been resolved.
Different stakeholders are still discussing whether the suggested duration of the vacations is appropriate for schools and students.
Officials say further meetings are expected in the coming days to address concerns and try to reach an agreement.
Decision expected after consultations
Authorities say the goal is to finalise a schedule that balances the academic year with seasonal factors and the practical needs of schools.
For now, the proposed holiday plan remains under discussion, and the final school calendar will be announced after consultations are completed.
Eid-ul-Fitr holidays announced
The federal government has announced Eid-ul-Fitr holidays as the holy month of Ramzan is about to end.
According to the notification issued by the federal government, March 20 and 21 are public holidays throughout the country.
However, Pakistanis can enjoy four days as Eid holidays.
As per the official notification, March 20 and 21, which are Friday and Saturday respectively, are off. At the same time, Sunday is a public holiday on March 22.
In the notification issued by the federal government on March 23, there is another public holiday to celebrate Pakistan Day.
