PESHAWAR: Chief Security Officer (CSO) Najam-ul-Hassan was transferred as soon as the new Chief Minister (CM) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Sohail Afridi took oath of his new office on Monday.
PTI’s Sohail Afridi was elected as the new CM KP after the resignation of Ali Amin Gandapur on the directives of the jailed PTI leader Imran Khan.
Afridi was elected as new chief executive of the province despite opposition’s boycott of the process.
Chief Security officer Najam ul Hassan has become the first casualty of the new CM KP. He has been removed from his post of Chief Security Officer and directed to report to the CTD (Counter Terrorism Department).

According to sources, Najam-ul-Hassan was posted in the Chief Minister’s Secretariat for a long time and was serving as the security in-charge of the former Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur.
After the formation of the new provincial government, transfers have started at the administrative level.
According to the Home Department, a new Chief Security Officer is expected to be appointed in place of Najam-ul-Hassan soon.
Sources say that the Chief Minister has decided to change the security team as per his strategy so that the security of the Chief Minister’s House and Secretariat can be organized in a new way.
Transfers to important administrative posts have become a norm in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa at the beginning of every new government.
Earlier also, many police and administrative officers have been transferred during the tenure of former Chief Ministers.
