The newly constructed Bhatti Chowk underpass has been opened to traffic after being completed in just four months. This project gave relief to thousands of people who regularly travel through Lahore’s busy Inner City and Data Darbar areas.

According to the Punjab government, the project was completed as part of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif and former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s vision to improve public facilities and make daily travelling easier for citizens.

Bhatti Chowk is one of Lahore’s busiest locations and has faced serious traffic congestion for many years. Heavy traffic around Data Darbar and the surrounding areas often caused long delays. The government said the new underpass has addressed this problem.

One citizen said travelling through the area previously took around 10 to 15 minutes because of traffic congestion. The same journey can now be completed in only two to three minutes.

Citizens and transporters have welcomed the opening of the Bhatti Chowk underpass and appreciated the Punjab government for completing the project within a short span of 4 months.

On the other hand, previously, the federal government announced plans to construct two new underpasses in Islamabad to improve traffic flow at key intersections in the capital.

The decision was made during a meeting chaired by Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, where ongoing and upcoming development projects in Islamabad were reviewed. The meeting also discussed proposals to increase the Capital Development Authority’s (CDA) revenue.
