A decision has been made to recruit one thousand new personnel in CCD Punjab, and in this regard, funds of 491 million rupees have also been approved.

The provincial cabinet has granted approval for the immediate recruitment of one thousand officers and personnel in various cadres to overcome the severe shortage of staff in CCD.

This decision has been taken to curb dangerous dacoits, criminals, and proclaimed offenders across the province.

According to the official document, the CCD department was established in March 2025, for which a sanctioned strength of 7,486 officers and personnel exists; however, currently only 3,904 personnel are serving, and 3,582 positions are vacant.

CCD has played a very important role in making the province free of weapons, and after its establishment, a clear reduction of up to 55% in robbery incidents and 45% in murder cases has been recorded.

The document clearly states that Punjab Police personnel have been transferred to the newly formed department “PERA,” due to which it has not been possible to provide additional staff from the police to CCD.

To overcome the shortage of personnel, the IG Punjab had sent a summary to the government for the recruitment of one thousand constables and driver constables, which has now been formally approved by the cabinet.

According to the approval, in CCD, 8 SPs (General Executive Cadre), 3 SPs (Legal Cadre), 19 DSPs (General Executive Cadre), and 10 DSPs (Legal Cadre) will be recruited.

In addition, the recruitment plan also includes 51 Inspectors (General Executive Cadre), 141 Sub-Inspectors, 173 ASIs, 35 Head Constables, 100 Driver Constables, and 460 Constables.

The government has also formally approved the release of 491 million rupees in the supplementary budget for the current fiscal year 2025–26 for these recruitments and administrative matters.
