Newly appointed Iran’s defence minister martyred in Israeli air strike

Iran’s defence minister martyred

After the death of Iran’s defence minister Amir Nasirzadeh, several media reports confirmed the killing of the newly appointed defence minister of Iran. An international media outlet confirmed that Defence Minister Majid Ebnelreza is no more.

The media report said that Majid Ebnelreza embraced martyrdom in Israel’s air strikes in Iran.

The United States and Israel have launched a large-scale military operation against Iran, targeting its military and strategic sites. Foreign media describe it as one of the biggest air campaigns in decades.

Earlier reports said that Revolutionary Guards commander Mohammad Pakpour may have been killed in the attacks.

US President Donald Trump called the operation, named Operation Epic Fury, a preventive step against Iran’s nuclear and missile programs. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the strikes aim to help the Iranian people shape their country’s future.

The attacks came after diplomatic talks over Iran’s nuclear program collapsed. US officials said Iran refused to stop uranium enrichment and claimed it had enough material to build several nuclear bombs. However, Iran insists that its nuclear program is peaceful.

In response, Iran launched missiles and drones at Israel, US military bases in the Gulf, and some civilian areas. The rising violence has increased fears of a wider regional war.

The conflict has also disrupted global energy supply routes, especially the Strait of Hormuz.
