Speeding crackdown intensifies as NHMP fines several vehicles

The National Highways and Motorway Police (NHMP) have stepped up enforcement in the central region, issuing more than 12,990 challans for speeding violations as part of an ongoing crackdown.

The campaign comes under a strict zero-tolerance policy targeting speeding, with officials aiming to improve road safety and significantly reduce traffic accidents across the region.

According to the data, MC-1 Lahore recorded 5,641 fines for breaches of the newly enforced speed limits. In addition, the N-5 Central Zone in Lahore issued 3,597 challans during a targeted operation against traffic violations on highways.

A spokesperson for the Central Region confirmed that strict monitoring on national highways will persist, with further action planned against drivers exceeding speed limits.

Spokesperson Syed Imran Ahmed reiterated that authorities will continue to take firm and impartial action against all traffic violations to promote safer roads and minimise accidents across the region.

It is worth mentioning here that Motorways in Pakistan made the journey for citizens easy, and multiple motorways in the country facilitate thousands of people in terms of safe travel. The speed limit for different vehicles on motorways is different.

However, the National Highway and Motorway police issued the new speed limit on motorways. Earlier, the motorway speed limit was 120km/h for motor cars and LTV vehicles. At the same time, the motorway speed limit for PSV and HTV was 90km/h. After the announcement of the National Highway and Motorway police, the motorway speed limit has been changed and reduced.

New motorway speed limit 

According to the National Highway and Motorway police, the motorway speed limit for motor cars and LTV vehicles is 100km/h, and the motorway speed limit for PSV and HTV is 90km/h.
