Nida Yasir apologises over her remarks about delivery boys

KARACHI: Morning show host Nida Yasir has issued an apology after facing strong backlash over her controversial comments about food delivery riders, saying she is “not a saint” and that her words were taken from a personal experience.

Nida sparked criticism when she said that “food delivery riders often don’t keep change on purpose so they can get a bigger tip.”

She had advised customers to either keep change with them or ask the rider in advance to bring the required amount.

Her remarks triggered widespread anger among social media users and delivery riders, who demanded a public apology.

In a recent video message, Nida clarified that she was only referring to her own bad experience and did not intend to generalise or malign the entire community. She admitted her “choice of words was wrong,” adding that the segment was live and not pre-recorded.

“I did not say the entire food delivery community is bad. Many riders earn honest money through hard work,” she said. Nida added that she never meant to hurt or demoralise anyone, stressing, “I am human, not a saint. Anyone can make mistakes.”

She ended her message by apologising once again to delivery riders. “Please forgive your little sister for this mistake,” she said.
