On the directives of the Chief Minister of Punjab the process of providing Rs10,000 in financial assistance to workers for the month of Ramzan has formally begun under the Maryam Nawaz Ration Card and Nigehban Ramzan Program.
On the very first day Rs2 billion was distributed among eligible workers.
Social Security Commissioner Zulfiqar Ali Kharl conducted emergency visits to review the distribution of ration cards and the disbursement of financial aid.
He visited the Social Security Directorates of Lahore City and Shahdara where he monitored the ongoing biometric verification of workers.
The commissioner also visited various industrial units and inspected the biometric verification process of workers to ensure transparent and timely distribution of relief funds.
On this occasion the concerned social security directors gave a detailed briefing on the distribution of assistance under the Nigehban Ramzan Program and the Maryam Nawaz Ration Card.
Zulfiqar Ali Kharl said that the Punjab Government is taking practical steps to provide relief to the working class and is ensuring that financial assistance reaches deserving individuals in a transparent manner.
He directed that the biometric system be fully monitored warning that no negligence or delay would be tolerated.
He added that the distribution of financial assistance and ration cards to eligible workers will continue in the coming days under the Nigehban Ramzan Program.
Monitoring and public service
A dedicated Ramzan Nigehban dashboard has been established to track distribution, along with a counter-checking system via phone calls to beneficiaries.
Maryam Nawaz emphasised that the process should be simple and convenient, ensuring that no deserving family is left out.
Officials say the measures aim to provide timely assistance, reduce hurdles in accessing relief, and maintain transparency. The expanded cash support, along with food and price control initiatives, is expected to benefit thousands of families across Punjab during Ramzan.
