Paramaribo: A man stabbed nine people to death in Suriname’s capital, Paramaribo.
According to the Police, the man was experiencing mental health issues. And he killed his own four children in the attack.
According to the media reports, the suspect had an argument with his wife, and as a result, he stabbed his 11-year-old daughter 44 times in the kitchen till her death.
The Police said that the man killed four adults and five children. The adult and the sixth child were seriously injured and taken to the hospital immediately. Both are getting proper treatment.
When the Police arrived, the suspect attacked the officers; as a result Police fired at him. And the man got wounded in the leg and has been hospitalised under Police supervision.
Suriname’s President Jennifer Geerlings-Simons shared her sympathies at this tragic incident by posting at Facebook.
She said, “At a time when family and friends should stand together and support one another, we are faced with the harsh reality that there is another side to the world.”
“A father who takes the lives of his own children and, in the process, kills his neighbours as well. I wish strength, courage, and comfort to all those in mourning in this unimaginably difficult time.“
