No Apology to India, says Mohsin Naqvi

Mohsin Naqvi denies apologising to BCCI

LAHORE: Chairman Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and President Asian Cricket Council (ACC) Mohsin Naqvi has made it clear that he never apoligised to the Indian cricket board (BCCI) and he never will.

Indian media on Wednesday claimed that Mohsin Naqvi has apologised to the BCCI over the chaotic aftermath of the Asia Cup final.

India’s Asia Cup 2025 triumph was marred by a controversy at the presentation ceremony, where the Suryakumar Yadav-led side refused to accept the trophy from Mohsin Naqvi.

The ceremony concluded prematurely, with Mohsin Naqvi taking the trophy and winners’ medals into his custody.

As per the Indian media report, Naqvi expressed regret to the Indian board, acknowledging that the situation should not have escalated the way it did.

However Naqvi on Wednesday talking to reporters refuted all Indian media reports and dubbed it as ‘pack of lies’. He said that India media runs on false and made up stories and their sole purpose is to create false propaganda and mislead their public.

“ I was willing to handover the trophy to the Indian team as ACC President on the day of the final. I am still ready to give them the trophy. If they want it they should come over to the ACC office and take it from me”, he said.

He regretted that India is politicizing cricket and damaging the spirit of the game.
