No fuel crisis in Pakistan, confirms OGRA

fuel crisis

The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has cleared the air by confirming that there is no fuel crisis in the country.

The spokesperson said that there was a slight delay in the clearance of imported petroleum products and that’s it.

According to him, this issue has been resolved now.

The supply of petroleum products across Pakistan is being continued as usual and everything is normal.

Earlier, some oil companies warned of fuel crisis due to new policy.

Reports of fuel crisis in Pakistan

The Oil Companies Advisory Council (OCAC) wrote a letter to the chief minister of Sindh and federal authorities and said that at least five major petroleum shipments, including vessels carrying petrol and diesel for PSO, HPL, PGL and Parco, are currently awaiting customs clearance at Karachi ports.

“The oil supply chain is on the brink of collapse. Recovery could take over two weeks if cargoes are not cleared now,” the OCAC added.

Last week, the government slashed the price of petrol by Rs5.66 per litre and the price of High-Speed Diesel (HSD) was cut by Rs1.39 per litre.

The current price of petrol is now Rs263.02 per litre and the price of diesel has dropped to Rs276.81 per litre.

The price is still a bit high because the government is charging about Rs17-18 per liter custom duty on petrol and HSD.
