A schedule for severe gas load-shedding has been issued in Karachi, with supply now limited to just 11 hours out of 24.
According to reports, the continuous decline in RLNG reserves has forced authorities to provide gas only during specific hours across the city, creating serious difficulties for household consumers.
Sources said gas will no longer be available round the clock and will instead be supplied for 11 hours in three phases:
Morning: 6:00 am to 10:00 am (breakfast hours)
Afternoon: 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm (lunch hours)
Evening/Night: 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm (dinner hours)
Officials said the ongoing drop in RLNG gas reserves is the main reason behind the crisis.
The gas administration has advised citizens to use gas carefully to help maintain pressure.
It is important to note that many areas of Karachi were already facing low gas pressure, and this formal load-shedding decision has further increased the problems for residents.

Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) has started unannounced gas load shedding even during designated cooking hours, raising concerns about a worsening gas crisis in Lahore.
There have been fears of a gas shortage in the city as the period of load shedding has been extended because of the deficit in the supply system. The domestic consumers have complained about persistent disruptions despite the provision of an official timetable of gas supply during the cooking hours.
