The Punjab Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has denied the online circulating snowfall predictions in Islamabad, Lahore and other cities of Punjab.

There are many social media reports claiming that Lahore, other parts of Punjab, and the capital, Islamabad, may receive snowfall during the ongoing week.

Social media reports claimed that snowfall would take place between January 16 and 25. Such reports were also widely shared on WhatsApp groups, creating concern among citizens.

The department in a post on ‘X’ said, ‘There is no possibility of snowfall in Lahore or other plains of Punjab from January 16 to 25.’

The department also rejected the reports of severe cold and snowfall in the plains of Punjab. According to the PDMA, there is no possibility of snowfall in Lahore or other plains of Punjab.

They urged the public not to pay attention to any kind of rumours and only to believe in the credible information obtained from authentic sources.

However, the department predicted that there will be snowfall in Murree and Nathia Gali between January 17 and 18.

Separately, Director General (DG) PDMA Irfan Ali Kathia has also denied reports of snowfall predictions in Lahore and Islamabad.

According to weather forecaster AccuWeather, there are no chances of snowfall in Islamabad between 16 and 25 January.
