The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) parliamentary party meeting in Peshawar, which was being chaired by the chief minister (CM) of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Sohail Afridi, today, has ended.
The meeting directed members to continue preparations for the long march. The CM said that every member of the National and Provincial Assemblies should continue preparations for the march.
According to sources, the CM said the long march would not be postponed under any circumstances.
It was decided that participants would first gather in Swabi. Ministers were also directed to reach Swabi, according to sources.
CM Afridi directed members to resolve transport and other issues that could arise during the march.
The meeting also discussed the alleged arrests of members and other matters, according to sources.
“Our demands are very simple and easy,” the CM said, according to sources.
It was decided that the next course of action would be decided after the gathering in Swabi.
‘No-confidence move against Sohail Afridi possible’
Marwat said that a no-confidence motion against Afridi would only be moved if he dug his heels into the CM’s seat.
He claimed that Afridi was making repeated requests to find a way out of the situation. Marwat also said that Imran Khan would not let him off the hook.
Referring to the September 27 plans, Marwat questioned Afridi’s preparations for October 4.
He said that if Afridi could not prepare for September 27 despite having 11 months, it was unclear how he could prepare for October 4 in just five days.
Recently, it was reported that citizens in KP have expressed strong dissatisfaction with the performance of the PTI government.
According to the reports, it was particularly over the deteriorating law and order situation and continued incidents of terrorism in the province.
Residents have called for the removal of CM Sohail Afridi, reports say. According to them, a change in the provincial government’s approach is necessary to improve security and tackle terrorism effectively.
