Ogra Cuts LPG Price by Rs6.71/kg, Domestic Cylinder Down Rs79

Web desk: The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra) has announced a reduction in the price of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) for October.

According to a notification issued on Tuesday, the price has been slashed by Rs6.71 per kilogram, bringing the new rate down to Rs207.48.

In September, LPG was priced at Rs214.19 per kilogram.

With this revision, the cost of an 11.8-kilogram domestic cylinder has also decreased by Rs79.14.

Consumers will now pay Rs2,448.33 for a cylinder, compared to last month’s Rs2,527.47.

The price cut is expected to provide some relief to households already struggling with rising energy costs.

Separately, an important development has taken place regarding the provision of domestic gas connections on imported Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG).

Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) has started the process of issuing connections on demand notices that were deposited almost five years ago.

The company has moved forward with around 250,000 such demand notices.

Letters have been dispatched to consumers who had previously submitted demand notices, asking them to visit company offices for a fresh agreement.

Unlike earlier, the new contracts will be based on imported LNG instead of natural gas.

According to the company, consumers must appear in person with their national identity card and thumb impression to complete the agreement.

It has been made clear that those who do not sign the new contract will not be provided connections on the basis of their earlier demand notices.

In addition, consumers will be required to pay an extra amount under the head of demand notice while finalising the contract.

The letters have been sent to consumers at the addresses and mobile numbers provided in their applications.

In another instance, reports suggest another hike in petroleum product prices across the country from October 1. If approved, the price of petrol could climbto Rs266.58 per litre.
