OGRA raises LNG prices for February

Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has announced a revision in the prices of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) for the month of February, increasing the cost by $0.06 per MMBTU.

According to the official notification issued by OGRA, the new price of LNG under the Sui Northern system has been set at $11.33 per MMBTU. Similarly, the LNG price for the Sui Southern system has been fixed at $10.27 per MMBTU.

The revised prices will take effect for the current month of February and will impact consumers in both transmission networks accordingly.

According to OGRA, the price hike is due to an increase in terminal charges. The new prices will be implemented from February 1.

On the other hand, energy experts viewed that the impact of the increase in LNG prices may also be felt on industrial costs and household consumer bills, while business circles have expressed fears that the rise in energy prices may further increase inflationary pressures.

According to government sources, the price hike was inevitable due to fluctuations in the global market and an increase in import costs.
