OGRA Raises LPG Prices for December

Web desk: The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has announced another increase in the price of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), affecting both household consumers and commercial buyers.

As per the latest notification, LPG has become Rs7.39 more expensive per kilogram, pushing the new price to Rs209 per kg for December.

With this revision, the cost of a domestic LPG cylinder has gone up by Rs87.21, now priced at Rs2,466.10.

Last month, LPG was selling at Rs201 per kg, and a domestic cylinder cost Rs2,378.89.

The new hike is likely to add to the financial strain on families already facing rising inflation and higher utility costs across the country.

Petrol and Diesel Prices Reduced

Additionally, the government has announced the latest petrol and diesel prices for the next 15 days.

According to a notification issued by the Petroleum Division on November 30, the price of petrol has been reduced by Rs2 per litre, bringing it down to Rs263.45 per litre.

The price of high-speed diesel has also been lowered by Rs4.79 per litre, and its new rate is Rs279.64 per litre.

New rates will now be announced again after 15 days.

Earlier, on November 16, the price of petrol was kept unchanged, while the price of high-speed diesel was increased by Rs6 per litre.

High-speed diesel is heavily used in the agriculture and transport sectors, so any change in its price directly affects consumers.

The government continues to charge about Rs16–17 per litre in customs duty on both petrol and high-speed diesel, whether they are locally refined or imported.

It is also important to note that the government collected Rs1.161 trillion from the petroleum levy in FY25, and this is expected to rise by about 27% to Rs1.470 trillion in the current fiscal year.
