Olivia Rodrigo has made the announcement of the release of her third studio album, the title of which appears to be inspired by Lana Del Rey, according to fans on social media.

The 23-year-old pop sensation took to Instagram on Thursday, April 2, to disclose the album title, the release date, and the initial visuals from the album, the album cover.

The hitmaker of ‘drivers license’ captioned the post, “my third album ‘you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love’ is out June 12th. I am so proud of this record and I can’t wait for you to hear it. available for preorder now!”

Olivia Rodrigo’s image showed a pastel-pink color scheme, aligning with the murals that have been displayed throughout the city in promotion of the new album days prior.

The post sparked an overwhelmingly positive response from fans and fellow music artists alike, with Audrey Hobert, Gracie Abrams, Addison Rae, Maisie Peters, and others expressing their enthusiasm for the upcoming release.

Social media users also noted that Rodrigo has marked April 7 on her website, which may indicate a forthcoming single announcement.

In earlier comments, she termed the project as influenced by “the obsession and anxiety” that frequently accompany relationships.

Additionally, she disclosed that the album significantly emphasises emotional storytelling.

“I realized all my favorite romantic love songs were beautiful because they had a tinge of fear or yearning in them,” she stated, noting that the album includes “sad love songs.”
