Security at Jinnah International Airport Karachi has been significantly tightened, with additional security personnel deployed both inside and around the airport premises, sources said on Saturday.
According to officials, additional contingents of the Rangers, police, and the Airport Security Force (ASF) have been stationed on roads within the airport’s limits to ensure enhanced vigilance.
Authorities have also restricted entry to the airport, allowing only passengers with valid travel documents to enter the premises.
The administration has advised citizens to avoid visiting the airport without a valid reason.
Security measures have also been strengthened at the headquarters of the Pakistan Airports Authority and Pakistan International Airlines Civil Aviation Authority, sources added.
In addition, strict access controls have been imposed at the Civil Aviation Colony. Vehicles other than those belonging to employees and residents are no longer permitted to enter the area.
Authorities have also closed access from the PIA Township road to the airport, PIA Head Office, and the Pakistan Airports Authority headquarters.
Passengers have been advised to arrive at the airport well ahead of their scheduled departure times, as enhanced screening and checking procedures on routes leading to the airport may cause delays.
Officials have urged the public to cooperate with law enforcement agencies to ensure smooth operations and maintain security during this period.
On the other hand, the federal government imposed an immediate and complete ban on flying drones outdoors across the country, citing risk to public safety. This ban applies to both recreational and commercial drones.
According to official orders, the use of drones for any purpose is now prohibited. The objective of this decision is to improve the security situation. The federal government has also directed all provincial governments to ensure the strict enforcement of this ban.
Strict action will be taken against anyone who violates the law. The ban on flying drones takes effect immediately, starting today.
