The Orange Line Metro Train will continue to operate throughout the religious holidays on the 9th and 10th day of Muharram, and will provide services as scheduled.
The Mass Transit Authority has said that the Orange Line Train would not have any changes in its operating hours or routes throughout the month of Muharram. But, Metro Bus, Electric Bus and the Speedo Bus will be temporarily suspended.
The authorities said that the suspension of bus services for two days was made, taking into consideration security and traffic management measures. Therefore, all Metro, Electric and Speedo Bus services in Lahore, Rawalpindi, Islamabad and Multan will remain closed on the 9th and 10th of Muharram.
During the two days, public transportation will continue on the regular schedules, although bus services will be suspended, the Orange Line Metro Train will be in operation.

Earlier, the federal government had declared June 25 and 26, 2026, Thursday and Friday, as public holidays on account of the 9th and 10th Muharram 1448 A.H., Ashura.
According to a notification issued by the Cabinet Division, the holidays have been announced in continuation of the government’s earlier circular No. 10-01/2026-Min-II dated January 19, 2026, regarding public and optional holidays for the year.
The notification stated that the Prime Minister has approved declaring both days public holidays to mark the religious observance of Muharram. The holidays will be observed by all government offices and institutions operating under both five-day and six-day working week schedules.
