More than 100 aggregator accounts linked to a mobile wallet have been closed following notices issued by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) as authorities intensify their crackdown on online gambling and digital financial transactions, sources said.

According to sources, several other accounts have also been suspended following internal investigations. The closed aggregator accounts were reportedly processing high-volume transactions through the mobile wallet.

The account closures could significantly affect the mobile wallet’s revenue, while payments through aggregator and merchant channels have also reportedly faced delays.

Sources said payments and settlements involving six major payment companies linked to the mobile wallet have also been affected. International payment processors are reportedly investigating delays in transactions.

According to the sources, some aggregator accounts were allegedly being used to process payments for online gambling and adult websites.

The FIA has traced more than Rs119.93 billion in transactions linked to gambling applications, sources said.

More than 10 million transactions worth Rs8.58 billion were reportedly detected through just five collection accounts, according to sources.

Monitoring and scrutiny of aggregator accounts is also underway under the State Bank of Pakistan’s May 2026 framework.

Meanwhile, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has blocked 46 illegal gambling and unregistered trading applications.

The FIA’s Faisalabad office has also registered a case on behalf of the state, naming 11 major companies, according to sources.
