Web desk: The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has confirmed a ceasefire violation on the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.
According to the statement, some elements from Afghanistan opened unprovoked fire on Pakistani posts along the Chaman border.
Ceasefire Violation on Pak-Afghan Border
Pakistani security forces responded promptly, effectively, and in a responsible manner.
The Ministry of Information said Pakistan rejects Afghanistan’s claims regarding the incident.
The firing, it stated, began from the Afghan side, and Pakistani forces responded with restraint and professionalism.
The situation was brought under control due to the responsible actions of Pakistani forces, the ministry added.
It further stated that the ceasefire remains in place and that Pakistan remains committed to the ongoing talks, expressing hope for mutual cooperation from Afghan authorities.
Meanwhile, the Foreign Office also issued a statement, strongly rejecting the claims made by Afghanistan.
It said firing was initiated from the Afghan side, and Pakistan’s security forces responded immediately in a measured and responsible manner.
The statement published on the social media platform X, formerly Twitter, read, “We strongly reject claims circulated by the Afghan side regarding today’s incident at the Pak-Afghan border at Chaman.”
It further added that Firing was initiated from the Afghan side, to which our security forces responded immediately in a measured and responsible manner.
Ceasefire Remains Intact
In the follow up, the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting stated that the situation was brought under control due to responsible action by Pakistani forces, and the ceasefire remains intact.
