When will Pak Suzuki launch Alto’s new shape?

Suzuki Alto new shape in Pakistan

Suzuki Alto’s shape has remained unchanged for more than six years in Pakistan, and many buyers are now asking when Pak Suzuki plans to give its best-selling car a fresh look. For now, the short answer appears to be not anytime soon.

Pak Suzuki introduced the Alto on June 15, 2019, after discontinuing the long-running Mehran. The company unveiled the model at the Pakistan Auto Parts Show 2019, positioning it as an affordable and modern replacement for a car that had dominated local roads for decades. Since then, the Alto has gone on to become Pakistan’s top-selling car, a position it still holds today.

What stands out is how little the car has changed since launch. The same shape introduced in 2019 is still on sale in 2025 with no major updates to the exterior, lights, bumpers, or interior. Despite this, Alto continues to attract buyers, mainly because it remains the cheapest brand-new car in the market, offers good fuel efficiency and is relatively easy and inexpensive to maintain. The Suzuki badge also plays a major role as it is a brand many Pakistani buyers trust.

Globally, however, the story is different. Suzuki has already moved ahead with newer designs. In Japan, the ninth-generation Suzuki Alto was launched in December 2021, featuring a more modern look compared to the eighth-generation model that is sold in Pakistan. This has only added to calls from local consumers for an updated shape.

There were expectations that Pak Suzuki might introduce the newer generation in 2026. However, industry insiders now say there is no such plan in the near future. According to these sources, a new shape is unlikely to arrive in the first few months of 2026 or even by mid-year. The company has also made no official announcement about working on a new-generation Alto for Pakistan.

The price story adds another layer to the discussion. When the Alto was launched, the base VX model carried a price tag of Rs999,000, while the VXR cost around Rs1.1 million. The top-end VXL AGS was priced at Rs1.29 million. Today, the Alto VXR manual, now the base variant, costs Rs2.94 million. The VXR AGS is priced at Rs3.16 million, while the VXL AGS has climbed to Rs3.32 million.

Even with these sharp increases, demand has not slowed. The Alto remains in a league of its own, as no other manufacturer offers a brand-new 660cc car at this price point. For now, it seems Pak Suzuki has little incentive to rush a new shape, with strong sales expected to continue well into 2026, even without a design change.
