Pak Suzuki Motor Company Limited, a subsidiary of Suzuki Motor Corporation in Pakistan, has launched a biogas plant with a daily capacity of 100 cubic meters and a solar power generation system capable of producing 920kW at its manufacturing facility, both of which are now operational in Karachi.
The biogas plant and solar power generation systems are part of Pak Suzuki’s efforts towards achieving carbon neutrality, as stated in an announcement.
Pak Suzuki has reported that the biogas plant uses Napier grass, which is abundantly found in Pakistan, along with waste generated from the company’s cafeterias.
The company expressed its commitment to fostering a sustainable society by advancing environmental initiatives that are adapted to the unique conditions of each region, including Pakistan.
The biogas plant, situated at the Pak Suzuki Plant in Karachi, occupies an area of 360m2 and has a capacity of 100m3 per day.
In addition, the solar power generation facility is also located at the Pak Suzuki Plant, boasting an output capacity of 920kW and an annual power generation of 1,395,000kWh.
Pak Suzuki to launch crossover SUV Fronx
The recent development comes after Pak Suzuki was set to launch its much-awaited crossover SUV, the Fronx, marking its entry into a competitive and fast-growing segment in Pakistan.
The model was first shown to the public last year at the Pakistan Auto Show, but this will be its official launch, with pricing likely to decide how well it performs in the market.
Early expectations suggest the Fronx could be priced between Rs5 million and Rs6 million.
