Pakistan T20I captain Salman Ali Agha said on Friday that all players were embracing responsibility ahead of the final.

He added that the match against Sri Lanka was vital for the team and that the World Cup preparation drives their performance. “We are playing good cricket for the last three months or so,” Agha said.

Sri Lankan captain Dasun Shanaka said his team’s morale was high after two consecutive wins.

He acknowledged Pakistan as a strong unit and said the visitors would aim to perform well against the Salman Ali Agha-led side.

In the previous match, Dushmantha Chameera held his nerve in the final over to ensure Sri Lanka won by six runs in a 184-run chase.

He conceded only three runs in the last over after an excellent opening spell that put Pakistan under pressure.

The stakes were higher for Sri Lanka, which needed a victory to reach the final. Pakistan would have advanced if Sri Lanka had lost.

Sri Lanka played with determination and hunger, building on a win on Pakistani soil earlier in the week. Kusal Mendis and Kamil Mishara shared a 66-run stand off 36 balls.

Mishara scored 76 off 48 balls, and contributions from the lower order helped Sri Lanka reach 184.

Chameera troubled Pakistan from the start by taking three top-order wickets in his first two overs. Pakistan fell to 43 for four, but captain Salman Ali Agha scored an unbeaten half-century to keep the team in contention.

A 56-run partnership between Salman and Usman Khan brought Pakistan close, and Mohammad Nawaz added crucial runs.

Pakistan needed 10 runs in the final over with a six required over cover, but Chameera took a wicket, bowled accurate Yorkers, and secured Sri Lanka’s win.
