The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced 15-member national squad for the ICC T20 World Cup. As per the announcement Salman Ali Agha will be the captain of Pakistan’s T20 team ICC T20 World Cup.
In Lahore on Sunday morning the names were revealed during a press conference addressed by the PCB Director High Performance and member men’s national selection committee Aqib Javed, Pakistan’s T20I captain Salman Ali Agha and white-ball head coach Michael James Hesson at the Gaddafi Stadium.
Abrar Ahmed, Babar Azam, Sahibzada Farhan and Usman Tariq will also be part of the team. Saim Ayub, Shadab Khan and Naseem Shah have been named in the World Cup squad as well.
Faheem Ashraf, Khawaja Muhammad Nafi and Mohammad Salman Mirza have been included in the squad.
Fakhar Zaman, Mohammad Nawaz, Shaheen Shah Afridi, and Usman Khan have also secured places in the lineup. Pakistan will begin its World Cup campaign on February 7 against the Netherlands.
The ICC T20 World Cup matches will be played from February 7 to March 8.
In the 20-team tournament, each team is set to play four group games before the Super Eight and Knockout Stage, all between 7 February and 8 March.
Pakistan is also set to face Australia in a three-match T20I series at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore on 29, 31 January and 1 February with the preparation camp starting today.
Players named in the national T20 squad will report to the team hotel on Saturday night. The team will hold a three-hour training session at Gaddafi Stadium on Sunday (Today).
According to officials, the Pakistan T20 squad will play a practice match on January 26, followed by another three-hour training session on January 27.
Meanwhile, players from both Pakistan and Australia will attend a pre-match press conference on January 28.
