The “Pashtun 1” choice number plate also attracted significant attention and stood out as the third-highest sale fetching Rs13.2 million.

The overwhelming participation and excitement at the venue reflect the growing demand for distinctive and identity-based number plates with buyers willing to spend large sums to secure exclusive registrations.

Bidding for several other choice number plates is still in progress at the Arena Hall and organizers expect more record-setting bids to emerge as the auction continues.

The craze for premium number plates is growing fast in Pakistan. From luxury cars to everyday vehicles, many owners now want a registration number that stands out or reflects their identity. But such plates do not come cheap, and only those willing to pay large sums usually get their hands on them.

Beyond personal pride, the auctions also help the province generate non tax revenue. At the same time, they point to a wider cultural shift in Pakistan, where vehicles are increasingly used to express identity, lineage and belonging.
