Pakistan started the new year by achieving historic milestones; the country became the third-largest exporter of rice in the world.
As per details, the rice exports of Pakistan saw a strong rebound in the last month of 2025, with a massive 14 per cent month-on-month (MoM) rise as compared to previous month. This also includes a 50pc surge in Basmati shipments.
With this impressive performance, Pakistan will surpass Vietnam and become the world’s third-largest rice exporter. The top two include India and Thailand.
It is important to note here that Pakistan’s rice exports exceeded 489,000 tonnes in December 2025, not including the exports to Iran, compared to Vietnam’s 387,000 tonnes.
