SHARJAH: An 18-year-old Pakistani, Ahsan Yaseen, has made the nation proud as he won the Youth Camel Race in the 54th Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Camel Racing Festival in Sharjah. His victory surprised spectators, and his victory received widespread praise from camel racing enthusiasts throughout the region.
Yaseen managed to win the prestigious Golden Camel Trophy with a cash prize worth AED 50,000, which is considered about PKR 3.8 million. The competition was fierce, with skilled young riders from different countries taking part. In spite of the pressure, the Pakistani teenager displayed sheer courage and concentration on the track.
The race did not start off very easily for him. Yaseen, in the early stages of the competition, is placed sixth. Many believed that the gap was to be hard to close. However, he kept his cool and trusted in his training. Taking strict control of it and being possessed of sharp instincts, he slowly overtook his competitors.
In the last lap, Yaseen exhibited amazing speed and balance. He pushed his way to the finish line first, starting in the second position, and finished first in a time of only 3 minutes and 47 seconds. His performance impressed both local officials as well as international observers.
Currently, Ahsan Yaseen is doing engineering in Dubai. In addition to his studies, he is a regular trainee at Hamdan bin Mohammed Heritage Centre, where he has developed his camel racing skills. His commitment to education and sport is a symptom of good discipline at an early age.
Speaking to a media outlet, Yaseen said that camel racing is often considered a traditional Arab sport. He added that success in such a huge race for Pakistan gave him immense happiness. He said that moment was unforgettable.
