The Chairman of the Pakistan Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority (PVARA) and Minister of State, Bilal bin Saqib, on Thursday, participated in a crypto-related event alongside global finance leaders.
It was organized by World Liberty Financial, a cryptocurrency venture associated with the family of US President Donald Trump.
This event took place at Mar-a-Lago, the private estate and club owned by Trump in Florida, and was hosted by World Liberty Financial, a crypto-focused financial platform that was launched in September 2024 and is linked to Trump’s family.
According to Saqib’s office, notable speakers and attendees included David Solomon, the chairman and CEO of Goldman Sachs, Adena Friedman, the chairperson and CEO of Nasdaq, and Lynn Martin, the president of the New York Stock Exchange.
The event was organized and hosted by Eric Trump along with American entrepreneurs Zach Witkoff and Alex Witkoff.
The discussions at the event centered on the future of global financial infrastructure, digital assets, stablecoins, innovations in capital markets, and the evolving relationship between regulation and emerging financial technologies, as stated in the announcement.
Pakistan’s progress in global finance
Furthermore, it was noted that Saqib’s participation in the finance and crypto related event signifies Pakistan’s increasing involvement in global dialogues that are shaping the next phase of financial and technological transformation.
The statement further emphasised that as Pakistan progresses towards modernising its financial infrastructure and enhancing its role in the global digital economy, such high-level engagements indicate a growing international acknowledgment of the country’s regulatory direction and leadership.
In the previous month, Pakistan entered into a memorandum of understanding with a company associated with World Liberty Financial to investigate the potential use of a dollar-linked stablecoin for cross-border payments.
